(About) Buryn Studio ApS

We cut loud,
then we stop.

(01) The story

Six years, seven drops

A borrowed cutting table, forty-eight metres of Como silk and a rule we have never broken.

A borrowed cutting table, forty-eight metres of Como silk and a rule we have never broken.

Ida Brandt started Buryn in 2019 in a shared workshop in Vesterbro, with a single bolt of deadstock silk and a pattern for a scarf. Forty-eight scarves later the silk ran out, and instead of finding more she drew the next thing.

That accident became the method. Every Buryn drop is forty-eight numbered pieces, cut from cloth that already exists, made by small ateliers we name on every tag. In 2023 Jonas Weller opened our second studio in Berlin-Mitte to run production closer to the mills.

We are nine people across two cities. We do not run sales, we do not restock, and we answer every email ourselves.

(02) Principles

Five rules, printed on the studio wall

01

Forty-eight, then stop

Every drop is capped at forty-eight pieces. When the last one is gone, the pattern goes into the archive drawer for good.

02

Deadstock first

We buy cloth that already exists — mill surplus, end-of-roll, cancelled orders — before we ever consider a new bolt.

03

Name the maker

Every tag carries the name and town of the atelier that made it. Credit belongs on the garment.

04

Repair for life

Bring any Buryn piece back to either studio and we will fix it, free, for as long as you own it.

05

No discount codes

The price is set once, fairly, and stays there. No sales, no countdowns, no surprises for early buyers.
